I purchased a Thermador range and the hood for a grill. I was talked out of the grill function on the stove (which I regretted) but still had this powerful hood. I live in San Francisco and the weather doesn't always hold up for outdoor grilling. I had been looking for the perfect indoor grill and had several failed attempts until I got this one. I love, love, love this one. It grills just like the outdoors and if you don't have the proper ventilation you will probably set off a few fire alarms. The bottom section of this can be hard to clean but I boil some water in a separate pan and put it in a dutch oven and when finished with the grilling I place this piece in the boiling water and it cleans it right up. There is no reason to get an outdoor grill if you do small amounts of grilling and you have the proper ventilation. This particular hose is SO difficult!! It gives a low flame most of the time (I guess from the safety switch in it). I have tried doing what other reviewers have suggested with mixed results (sometimes it would work, sometimes it would not). I called Weber, and they said they now suggest turning the gas on (on the tank, not the grill) at a steady turn, and walking away for 2 minutes before starting the grill (basically do not touch the grill until after the 2 minutes). I tried it one time and it seemed to be better, but who knows, it was only one time to test it out. I just think for this price, it should work flawlessly (at least do what it is supposed to do). The only reason for 2 stars, is because it is convenient (and so much less expensive) to use the hose with a large tank when at home.
